Get Involved!

Want to put something back into our community? Want to roll-up your sleeves and get stuck in? Want to be part of more than just a local volunteer group? Why not join Worcester Lions Club?

We seek to make a difference in our community and to help the young, elderly and those less able to help themselves. But we are so much more. We are part of Lions Club International, the world’s largest voluntary service organisation, with almost 1.5 million members in over 200 countries.

There are many ways we GET INVOLVED. With your help we could do even more. Why not join us?

THINKING GLOBAL, ACTING LOCAL

Our Project 2,500 is to collect and recycle 2,500 pairs of glasses by mid-2021. We are already at over 1,500. Our recycling bins are in some local opticians, offices and even supermarkets. Donated glasses are sent to a Lions-funded refurbishment centre in France and then onwards for reuse in the developing world.

We also support our Lions Clubs International Foundation, which enables Lions Clubs around the world to respond to local disasters and emergencies.

HELPING THOSE LESS ABLE TO HELP THEMSELVES

We provide hands-on support to the Worcester Street Café and help the Worcester Food Bank.

During 2020 lockdown, we prepared over 3,000 meals (around 90 per night) for the Worcester Street Café, using the Salvation Army kitchen.

We have helped the Worcester Food Bank with supermarket collections and with food distribution (even stocktaking) in their warehouse.

We also prepare Xmas Stockings for Worcester Care Leavers to give to youngsters leaving care.

ENCOURAGING GOOD CITIZENSHIP

We are running a Lions Young Lockdown Hero project to recognise young people who have gone the extra mile during Covid.

We also encourage young people to think about peace by taking part in the annual global Lions Clubs International Peace Poster competition
